Looking to boost the value of your home? Want to improve the comfort and functionality of the spaces where you spend the most time? Remodel your kitchen.

Kitchens are the busiest parts of the home. Whether you’re eating breakfast or grabbing lunch out of the fridge in a hurry, you and your family start your day here—and you likely end it here, too. You don’t want your kitchen to be crowded, disorganized, and messy. Kitchen remodels can help you maximize the room you have—but if you’re remodeling to create more organization, there are a few spaces you don’t want to overlook.

Don’t Overlook These 4 Spaces in Your Kitchen Remodel

We’ve seen quite a few kitchens remodeled in our day—and let’s just say, these are four unique spaces you don’t want to overlook.

1. Behind cabinet doors

If you’re having your kitchen cabinets redone or expanded, ask to see cabinet designs with built-in door shelving. Having cabinet doors with extra storage space is a dream—and the perfect place to store spices and other kitchen must-haves.

2. Under the cabinets

Have space between your cabinet door and the floor? Instead of wasting space, ask your contractor if you can add a little drawer or hideaway spot between the cabinet base and the floor. This dead space could be used as storage for things like mats, baking pans, and other kitchen accessories you don’t use often. Contractors can match the covering to the rest of the cabinetry with ease.

3. On the kitchen backsplash

It’s easy to forget to think of the kitchen backsplash as a place to add additional storage, but it can be done. Install a long rack to hang pans or a magnetic strip to showcase large silverware. This makes items more accessible (and creates a cool, functional, and unique kitchen aesthetic!).

4. Over the sink

One of our favorite kitchen remodeling additions? Over the sink spaces. Adding a built-in wine rack or spice organizer over the sink is pleasing to they and so helpful for families with children. Over the sink, this storage area is up high (either above a window or attached to the ceiling) and away from curious little hands.
